D.O. Taylor opened on 13 February 1913. Four generations of his family ran the bakery after him. When it changed hands in 2023, all fifty staff stayed and no recipe changed — “Nothing's changing. All ingredients stay the same.”
The part people write home about is the counter, the sample handed over before anybody asked for one.
Official bakery of the Indianapolis Indians, Indy Eleven, Indy Ignite and the IU Indy Jaguars. In 1954 it sent a 150-pound birthday cake to President Eisenhower.
